Instigated in 1947 and with post war euphoria running high the festival began it’s annual appearance. The official festival has among other things music, dance and drama from the worlds best performers.

Running in tandem are the Edinburgh Film Festival, Jazz Festival, Book Festival and the Tattoo on the Castles Esplanade. The city also hosts the Festival Fringe providing performance and art, so for the entirety of August the whole city is throbbing with shows, exhibitions and performers.

A Fringe Festival Guide is available providing 144 pages of what’s on, ranging from stand up comedy, world music, classical theatre, visual art and circus shows.
