National Galleries Flag outside the Modern Art Gallery Edinburgh is home to many of Scotland’s National Galleries, providing access to many of Scotland’s finest collections.

The National Gallery provides the best in both international and Scottish art, where the likes of Rembrant and Van Gough can be seen side by side with Scotland’s favorite artist's such as Ramsey. The National Portrait Gallery and The Gallery of Modern Art display some of the best work from their respective fields.

Edinburgh is also home to a host of smaller independent galleries with work on display to view as well as to sell. Half a dozen of these smaller galleries can be found a stones through from each other on the city’s Dundas Street.

NATIONAL GALLERY OF SCOTLAND

An outstanding collection of paintings, drawings and prints by an assortment of great artists from the Renaissance Period though to the post-impressionists. Among the artists included are Velazquez, El Greco, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Turner, Constable, Monet and Van Gough.

SCOTTISH NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

Portraits in varying medium of significant people throughout Scottish history. Work from the 16th century to the present is on show. The portrait gallery is also the home of the National Photography Collection, with regular photographic exhibitions.
